Army made India proud by launching surgical strikes, says Rajnath

HT Correspondent, New Delhi: Indian soldiers made the country proud with their valour during the army’s

recent strikes against militant bases in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, home minister Rajnath Singh said on Sunday.
News agency ANI quoted Singh as saying “Bas dekhte jaiye ( Just wait and watch),” when asked whether the government will release footage of the strikes to counter Pakistan’s claim that the strikes didn’t take place.
“The country as well as the whole world is aware of this (surgical strikes)..the way our jawans displayed valour and have made India proud,” Singh told reporters on the sidelines of a Swachh Bharat event, as quoted by PTI.
Relations between India and Pakistan have nosedived since the army claimed on Thursday to have inflicted heavy casualties during its strikes on “terror launchpads” across the Line of Control, the de-facto border between the two countries.
Islamabad has dismissed the claim, saying no such strikes took place and even took journalists on a visit of the LoC. Many in India have called for a release of video footage of the operation to disprove Pakistan’s version.
