HT Correspondent, Bhopal: Two tribal girls were allegedly raped by two men in Indar area of Shivpuri district in Madhya Pradesh on Thursday
evening, police said on Friday.
The two girls, along with another girl—all aged between 12 and 15 years—later managed to escape from the spot and hid in Congress MLA Ram Singh Yadav’s farm the entire night.
The girls, hailing from Jhandi village, had gone to meet a man named Kalu of their village, who had called them on some pretext to an isolated spot between Jhandi and Ramgarh villages.
When they reached the spot at around 9 am, they found Kalu along with two other men, police said. Kalu’s aides caught two of the girls and raped them. The girls later escaped and made it to the Kolaras MLA’s farm.
“A relative of the MLA spotted the girls in the morning, after which they told him about the rape. They were subsequently sent to their houses in Jhandi village by the MLA’s aides,” Indar police station in charge S B Sharma said.
“We’ve booked the two accused for rape and another man for aiding the crime, besides booking all three of them under provisions of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act 2012,” Sharma said.
A manhunt has been launched to nab the accused. “We will also record statements of the Indar MLA and his aides in the matter,” he said.
