WB Police summoned Singer Babul Supriyo,BJP’s LS Candidate
The Ranigunj police station summoned the BJP candidate to appear before it by this evening following April 12 alleged violence during a roadshow with the ruling Trinamool Congress.
The singer claimed he was falsely implicated by the ruling party, whose activists who were involved in harassing him already got bail after surrendering before the police.
The 35-year-old playback singer said the ruling party supporters had prevented him from organising the road show on that day by using force and even assaulted him and some of his supporters in presence of police.
‘If I had arms on that day why the police let me go then and summoned now,’ asked the BJP candidate. He said the ruling party fearing worst in the election, was using all sources to intimidate and harassing the opponents.
‘Why the police are not arresting TMC leader Anubrata Mondal of Birbhum if he openly advised his supporters to bomb police,’ Babul Suprya told reporters as how the ruling party was threatening the opposition parties.
The summon on the singer followed three days after the Election Commission on Sunday gave a clean chit to Babul Supriyo and rubbished the allegation that he had visited temples in a drunken state, as claimed by Trinamool leader Jitendra Tewari and one Sanjay Singh, who had lodged a written complaint.
Ranigunj police said if the singer did not appear then they would take lawful action against the accused. Babul Supriya is expected to file his nomination papers today.
