Producer Simon Kinberg said the sequel to Deadpool will crack jokes about the “saturation” reached in the superhero movie genre. Amid the negative reviews for the latest superhero film, Suicide Squad, Kinberg says that his Deadpool, the motor-mouthed hero, will not shy away from the current superhero movie drama in the follow-up story, reported Aceshowbiz.
“I think Deadpool 2 will comment on anything that’s happening in movies today, especially in superhero movies,” he said at the Teen Choice Award press tour. “The sort of glut or saturation of these movies and the proliferation of sequels is definitely something we’ll play around with,” he said. The second movie is expected to start filming in early 2017. Tim Miller will return as a director and Ryan Reynolds is set to reprise his role as the foul-mouthed mercenary. The story is still kept under tight wraps, but comics character Cable, who was originally planned to appear in the first film, is confirmed to be introduced in the sequel.
