MNS Chief Raj Thackeray arrested and Bailed in Mumbai toll protests

Mumbai, 12 Feb (PTI): Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray was arrested by Mumbai Police on Wednesday while he was on his way to Navi Mumbai to lead protests against the state’s road toll policy.

The MNS had on Tuesday announced that party workers would stage protests on all national and state highways in Maharashtra against the policy, which it says is “unjust”. Thackeray was arrested along with MNS legislators Bala Nandgaonkar and Nitin Sardesai for violating prohibitary orders.
Mararthi news channels reported huge traffic jams on all major highways leading to the city, including at the Mumbai-Pune, Mumbai-Ahmedabad and Mumbai-Nashik highways.
Police took MNS workers into custody at several places, including at Pune, Ahmednagar and Vasai, the Press Trust of India reported from Mumbai.
