Kerala cabinet has 19 ministers

The Chief Minister-designate Pinarayi Vijayan on Wednesday called on Governor P. Sathasivam and submitted a list of his Council of Ministers.

Mr. Vijayan, who called on the Governor at Raj Bhavan for the first time after being elected as the Leader of the CPI(M)-led Left Democratic Front legislature party, submitted the list comprising 19 ministers.

The meeting lasted for 10 minutes and Mr. Vijayan was accompanied by M. Shivasankar, a 1995 batch IAS officer, who was appointed as the Secretary to the Chief Minister.

Speaking to mediapersons later, Mr. Vijayan said his ministry would rise to the aspirations and expectations of people.

The swearing-in of the 19-member ministry will take place at 4 p.m. at the Central stadium here on Wednesday. The Governor will administer the Oath of Office and secrecy to the Chief Minister and other ministers.
