Bihar: Suspended JD(U) MLC Manorama Devi surrenders in Gaya court; sent to 14-day judicial custody

NEW DELHI:JD(U) MLC Manorama Devi, against whom an arrest warrant was issued for violating prohibition laws and allegedly harbouring her fugitive son who has been held in the road rage murder case in Bihar, on Tuesday surrendered before the Gaya court.

According to ANI, Manorama Devi surrendered before Gaya court and has been sent to 14 day judicial custody.
Manorama Deva had remained on the run and her house sealed by the police after the arrest warrant was issued.

The party has suspended her for the period of six years, after the recovery of about 18 bottles of Indian Made Foreign Liquor from her house in Gaya during a police raid to find her fugitive son.
Manorama Devi’s son Rocky Yadav has been arrested in connection with killing of a Gaya youth Aditya Sachdeva in an incident of road rage.
A case has already been registered against Devi’s husband Bindi Yadav and son Rocky Yadav in connection with the seizure of liquor bottles.
Manorama Devi’s counsel has claimed that she has been “implicated” in the case as the allegations levelled against her are false.
A court in Gaya will hear the anticipatory bail plea of suspended JD (U) MLC Manorama Devi on May 19.
Manorama Devi became MLC from JD(U) in 2015. Earlier, she was member of Legislative Council from RJD from 2003 to 2009.
Earlier, a case was registered against her husband Bindi Yadav and son Rocky Yadav in connection with seizure of liquor bottles. But, her name was included in the FIR on May 10 in this connection.
