Bihar teen killing: JD(U) MLC’s son Rocky Yadav arrested

Patna,AMARNATH TEWARY:Three days after the incident, Rocky Yadav, son of ruling Janata Dal (United) legislator Manorama Devi, who allegedly shot dead a teenage boy for overtaking his luxury SUV in Gaya district, was arrested in the wee hours of Tuesday from a house in Bodh Gaya.

The car in which the class 12 student Aditya Sachdev (inset) was shot dead allegedly by JD(U) MLC Manorama Devi’s son Rocky Yadav in Bihar’s Gaya district.

The house from where Mr. Rocky Yadav was arrested is said to belong to his father Bindi Yadav.

“The main accused Rocky Yadav was arrested from his father Bindi Yadav’s mixer plant located at Mastpura village of Bodh Gaya Police Station of Gaya district. Rocky was arrested along with the weapon (Bretta pistol) used in the crime,” Senior Superintendent of Police Garima Mallik told reporters.

Ms. Mallik claimed that Mr. Rocky Yadav, who was produced before mediapersons during a press conference with a mask on his face, had admitted to his crime in a statement.

However, minutes later Mr. Rocky Yadav pleaded innocence and denied that he was involved.

“I was in Delhi… when my mother called me I came and presented myself before the SSP… I did not open fire,” Mr. Rocky Yadav told reporters. “I’ll tell everything in the court,” he said.

Mr. Rocky Yadav would be presented in a Gaya court later in the day.

To a query whether Mr. Rocky Yadav has surrendered or was arrested, the SSP said, “It is definitely an arrest.”

Meanwhile, mother of the victim has said that the accused (Mr. Rocky Yadav) should get such punishment that “nobody should dare to commit such crime”. She also demanded speedy trial in the case.

Mr. Rocky Yadav’s father Mr. Bindi Yadav and the bodyguard of his MLC mother Rajesh Kumar were arrested and sent to judicial custody for 14-days on Monday.

Earlier, Ms. Devi had said that her fugitive son would soon surrender in the court as “he is an educated youth and respects law of the country”.

Reacting to the Gaya road rage incident Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Monday had asserted that “guilty won’t be spared” and police was doing its work in swift manner.

“Whoever would commit crime could not escape the rule of law…there is rule of law in the State,” Mr. Kumar said.

On Saturday night, Mr. Rocky Yadav had allegedly shot dead Sachdeva for overtaking his luxury SUV while coming from Bodh Gaya to Gaya town.

The luxury car and the .32 Italian-make pistol were earlier seized by the police.

The opposition NDA called a Gaya bandh on Monday in protest of the killing of Sachdeva.
