Two detained for NIA officer Mohammad Tanzil Ahmed’s murder

Lucknow: Police have detained two people in connection with the murder of National Investigation Agency (NIA) Deputy SP Mohammad Tanzil Ahmed’s murder case.

They have been detained from Bareilly and Sahaspur Districts of Uttar Pradesh.
The Uttar Pradesh Police had on Wednesday said the investigations and analysis of evidences are pointing at some personal angle behind the murder Tanzil Ahmed.

The police are interrogating the three suspects and are trying to correlate the information provided by them with evidence collected by the district police as well as investigation agencies,” reported Hindustan Times.
According to ANI, police sources said that the bike used in the murder has been recovered.
Tanzil was on his way back from the marriage ceremony of his niece, along with his wife and two children, when two armed bike-borne assailants shot at him and his wife in a village under Syohra Police Station area late in the night of April 2. The NIA officer died on the spot, while his wife was rushed to Fortis Hospital in Noida.
“Police is investigating all aspects, including personal and professional angles,” IG (Economic Offence Wing) Deepak Ratan said, adding that the priority was to work out the case at the earliest and arrest the accused.
