SOLAN(Himachal) 8 Feb: Team of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (VACB) nabbed an Assistant Manager of United India Insurance Company, PN Pandita, while accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 at from a local resident for setting an insurance claim of a stolen vehicle.

A team of bureau led by DSP Ramesh Sharma, caught Pandita while accepting Rs 10,000 at his office, VACB Superintendent of Police Surinder Verma said a case under Section 7 and 13 (2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act was registered against Pandita after his arrest.

The complainant had applied for an insurance claim when the police failed to trace his vehicle even after a lapse of six months. The bureau swung into action after the resident, whose Indigo car was stolen on April 1, 2012, lodged a complaint that an assistant manager was demanding a bribe of Rs 30,000 to settle the claim, Later he agreed to accept Rs 10,000 after negotiation.
