The fashion set may still be reeling under the 80s effect at the recently concluded Milan Fashion Week, the Oscar red carpet brought back the old Hollywood glamour. Athleisure or Goth Grunge maybe the current runway stories but you can’t picture an Oscar red carpet without the fluttering trains, plunging necklines and floral applique. Rooney Mara was a vision in a white Givenchy couture gown which was slashed at the centre exposing the hint of her leg. She accented the look with a bold lip and tied her hair up in an updo. Olivia Munn’s vibrant one-shoulder orange Stella McCartney added the much needed burst of colours to the red carpet.
Charlize Theron was a goddess in a strappy gown which had a plunging neckline and a billowing train. She added a long neck-piece which brought the focus to her decolletage. Brie Larson owned the Oscars red carpet in a ruffled blue Gucci gown. She opted for centre-parted hair and kept the make-up au naturel. Diane Kruger’s sheer lingerie-inspired gown was sexy and not an easy red carpet pick but she pulled it off with her innate confidence and red carpet-savvy approach.
Cate Blanchett opted for a pale blue, jewel-toned gown with floral applique and looked like one of the many larger-than-life characters she’s essayed on screen.
