‘Don’t harm Kashmiri students’, warned PDP,National Conference

Jammu(TH): The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the National Conference (NC) on Wednesday warned against harassing Kashmiri students outside the State in the backdrop of the Jawaharlal Nehru University crisis. Reacting to the JNU crisis, senior PDP leader Nayeem Aktar told The Hindu that “it is a larger debate about the idea of India.”

Mr. Akhtar, whose party PDP is in alliance with the BJP in the State, warned against harassing students from Kashmir studying elsewhere in the country.

“There should be no harassment. In the past, there were cases where Kashmiri youths were picked up but proved innocent after decades of litigation and ultimately lost their entire lives,” Mr. Akhtar said.
