Ahmedabad,MAHESH LANGA: Ahmedabad police have chargesheeted Hardik Patel and his aides for sedition and conspiracy to wage a war against the state authorities for launching a violent agitation under the banner of Patidar Anamat Andolan Samiti (PAAS), which was not even a registered entity.
The 2,700 page bulky charge-sheet by the cops contend that the accused were “involved in inciting Patel community youths to resort to violence as part of their pre-planned conspiracy to put undue pressure on government to accept their unconstitutional demand of quotas in the education and government jobs.”
The police have claimed that “due to inflammatory messages sent by Hardik and his aides, the state witnessed large scale violence that led to impose of curfew in several parts of the state.”
“We have provided details regarding attacks on policemen and public properties during the agitation,” said a police official involved in the probe in the high profile case against 22 year old Hardik, whose charged agitation paralyzed the state administration in the state.
The charge-sheet contains statements of witnesses, forensic experts, police officials and others.
The police have also included statements of over 500 witnesses, including police officials who lodged various complaints across the state, forensic experts, officials of railways, state transport and BRTS, people who witnessed violence and those policemen who witnessed stone-pelting and burning of police stations and police establishments.
The police have also attached call detail records (CDR), call interception transcripts, CDs containing video and audio clips, WhatsApp messages, forensic reports of mobile phones of those spearheading the agitation.
This is a second charge-sheet against Hardik in sedition case. Earlier on January 8th, Surat police also charge sheeted him for sedition alleging that he had “advised a Patel youth to kill policemen instead of committing suicide.”
Besides Hardik, his three aides Chirag, Dinesh and Ketan also also been chargesheeted by the Ahmedabad crime branch that lodged the FIR against Hardik and others in last October.
Meanwhile, Hardik Patel withdrew his bail plea from the High Court, which held that the fresh plea can be filed after charge sheet is taken on record in the sessions court.
