3 BJP MPs detained in violence-hit Malda for violating district administration imposed rules

Malda: Three BJP MPs, who are part of a fact-finding team set up by party President Amit Shah to look into Malda violence were on Monday morning detained at railway station in West Bengal as district administration already imposed section 144 all over the district.  


Party MPs Bhupender Yadav, SS Ahluwalia and BD Ram arrived in Malda where mob violence erupted last Sunday following alleged blasphemous comments by a right-wing saffron leader.

Ahead of his detention, SS Ahluwalia said, “We are here to meet victims of Kaliachak and do the assessment of what exactly happened and why it happened.”

Assembly elections in West Bengal will be held this year.

Union Home minister Rajnath Singh is likely to visit Malda district on the 18th of this month.Malda district on the 18th of this month.

On January 3, a mob protesting against the blasphemous comments by a right wing leader had resorted to violence in Malda district during which a police station was also attacked.
