Delhi Acers have it easy against Topguns to chart table

Table toppers Delhi Acers posted a convincing 5-2 win (points) over Bengaluru Topguns to assert their supremacy in the Premier Badminton League in New Delhi on Friday.

They had clinched their second successive tie in as many days, winning both the men’s singles matches through England’s Rajiv Ouseph and India’s Ajay Jayaram and their trump match, the men’s doubles, besides finishing off in style by winning the mixed doubles.

Having clinched the tie with a 4-0 after three matches, Topguns posted their only win of the tie when Chinese Suo Di defeated 17-year-old Shikha Gautam 15-5 15-6 in her trump match.

With Friday’s win, Acers lead the points table with 15 points after four ties. Acers, who beat Hyderabad Hunters on Thursday, had lost their opening two ties to Awadhe Warriors and Chennai Smashers.
