TN Assembly Polls: Vijayakanth’s DMDK being wooed by the BJP, DMK and PWF

New Delhi(PTI): The upcoming 2016 Tamil Nadu Assembly polls have already got political parties in talks and possible alliances being chalked out. A report in The Hindu states that Vijayakanth and his DMDK party are being wooed by the BJP, DMK and PWF. Considering that DMDK’s alliance is in demand, it looks like its leader Vijayakanth will now drive a hard bargain.

The report states that some sources in the People’s Welfare Front (PWF) were told by Vijayakanth a few weeks ago that the DMK had offered him the post of Deputy Chief Minister if they won the elections. However, sources in the DMK have stated that no such assurances were given to him and that posts would be discussed only when the alliance had been confirmed.

Sources in the BJP have told the daily that they wanted to revive the NDA of 2014, but it doesn’t look possible as of now. They wanted to bring the DMDK and the PMK back together, but apparently Vijayakanth wants to lead the NDA alliance if this happens.

On Friday, a press conference was held by BJP national secretary H Raja in which he said that the BJP wants to complete the alliance talks by Pongal.
