RSS twitter handle wants Myntra to ban cowhide items, RSS says views not ours

Mumbai: After the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) fan handle on Wednesday demanded that the government should act against Myntra as it sold shoes made from cow leather, the RSS has now said that the views expressed on twitter handle are not of them. Interestingly, it is followed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Rajasthan CM Vasundhara Raje, Gujarat CM Anandiben Patel, and other prominent leaders.

An independent handle created by RSS Swayamsevaks on Wednesday targeted e-commerce site Myntra, owned by Flipkart for selling cow leather shoes. It demanded that the government should act against Myntra as it sold shoes made from cow leather.

Govt should take action against @myntra for selling cow leather shoe and hurting religious sentiments of Hindus.

“Govt should take action against @myntra for selling cow leather shoe and hurting religious sentiments of Hindus,” said @RSS_Org.

However, responding to RSS_Org’s tweets, Myntra said, “We appreciate your sentiments. We feel sorry if the sale of any particular item does not meet your approval. However, the product in question is an imported product and/or made from imported leather. the sale of leather products is not illegal in India. Please be assured that we function within legally permissible norms.”

“We do not subscribe to the views expressed on @rss_org as it is not the official twitter handle of RSS,” said Vaidya
