Fake lottery messages, eight people arrested

Bilaspur, February 4, Somitr Keshav: Eight persons have been arrested for sending fake messages on mobile phones or computers, enticing unwary consumers through big lottery prizes by the Bilaspur police. Special investigation unit led by ASI Madan Mohan, had arrested Mohammed Suhel and Shamsher Khan from Arawali in Gujarat. Two more people are on the wanted list, said SP Kapil Sharma. Earlier, the police had arrested six accused from UP and Jharkhand.

Jagdev Chand from Barmana had lodged an FIR a few months ago that some people looted his Rs. 4.3 lakh by sending him appealing text messages. The police have recovered Rs. 2.9 lakh till now from some of those already detained.
