In a message, Gandhi said that the void created by the music director-singer-lyricist in the popular as well as classical music genre will be hard to fill. He was a “musician par excellence”.

Jain died today at a Mumbai hospital due to multiple organ failure. Jain was unwell for quite some time and he was under treatment at the Lilavati Hospital. He was in Nagpur for a programme which he had planned much earlier but could not participate because of his health. He was admitted to Wockhardt hospital in Nagpur, but was shifted to Lilavati hospital on Thursday. There were reports on Thursday that his condition was stable and that his health was showing an improvement.

He is survived by his wife Divya, son Aayushman and brother Manindra.
