Amidst ties between India and Pakistan hitting a deadlock, Shiv Sena which is part of the ruling NDA has now demanded for stopping all cultural ties with the neighbouring country.
According to reports, Shiv Sena’s cine wing, Chitrapat Sena, has already met the Shanmukhanand hall authorities in Matunga to cancel the show of acclaimed ghazal singer Ghula Ali. The programme is scheduled for October 9. The party has threatened that if the programme is not called off, Sena will register strong protest.
Chitrapat Sena’s general secretary Akshay Badrapurkar was quoted as saying, “We are against any form of cultural association with Pakistan. We cannot have ties with a country that kills our soldiers. They are against us why should we let their singers perform here”.
Sena, on earlier occasions too, has protested against Pakistani artists performing in India. They also were against the Pakistani cricket team playing in India.
According to reports, the hall authorities have asked the organisers to give undertaking that there will be no risk at the show. The show may be cancelled if organisers fail to give any undertaking.
