Meerut, March 27, Sandipan Sarma: In this special report of Lok Sabha Constituency today I will try give a brief look on Meerut Constituency of Uttar Pradesh, which is situated in eastern India.

10th no Meerut Lok Sabha Constituency

This Constituency is consists of 5 Legislative Assembly Constituency (LAC). They are as follows:

1. Kithore

2. Meerut Cantonmen

3. Meerut

4. Meerut South

5. Hapur (SC)

Session 1962 (Shah Khan):

In this edition of Lok Sabha election Shah Khan was selected as a MP from Meerut Constituency. As a winner Shah Khan (INC) got 166550 votes while his rival Maharaj Singh (SOC) got 79664 votes respectively. The margin of votes were 84576 (35.23% of Total Valid Votes). There were total 8 no of contestants from Meerut constituency in this session.

Session 1967 (M. Bharti):

In this edition of Lok Sabha election M. Bharti was selected as a MP from Meerut Constituency. As a winner M. Bharti (SSP) got 192116 votes while his rival S. Khan (INC) got 91664 votes respectively. The margin of votes were 101782 (35.56% of Total Valid Votes). There were total no 12 of contestants from Meerut constituency in this session.

Session 1977 (K. Prakash):

In this 1977 edition of Lok Sabha election K. Prakash was selected as a MP from Meerut Constituency. As a winner K. Prakash (BLD) got 173145 votes while his rival S. Khan (INC) got 127346 votes respectively. The margin of votes were 4560 (14.34% of Total Valid Votes). There were total 3 no of contestants from Meerut constituency in this session. No of Polling station was 656, average no of electors per polling station was 856.

Session 1980 (M. Kidwai):

In this 1980 edition of Lok Sabha election M. Kidwai was selected as a MP from Meerut Constituency. As a winner M. Kidwai (INC-I) got 212552 votes while his rival H. Pal (JNP) got 66998 votes respectively. The margin of votes were 1460866(42.99% of Total Valid Votes).There were total 4 no of contestants from Meerut constituency in this session. No of Polling station was 756, average no of electors per polling station was 866

Session 1984 (M. Kidwai):

In this 1984 edition of Lok Sabha election M. Kidwai was selected as a MP from Meerut Constituency. As a winner M. Kidwai (INC) got 228440 votes while his rival M. Ahmed (LKD) got 226685 votes respectively. The margin of votes were 3445 (0.96% of Total Valid Votes). There were total 10 no of contestants from Meerut constituency in this session. No of Polling station was 969, average no of electors per polling station was 789.

Session 1991 (Amar Singh):

In this 1991 edition of Lok Sabha election Amar Singh was selected as a MP from Meerut Constituency. As a winner Amar Singh (BJP) got 263384 votes while his rival M. Kidwai (INC) got 149558 votes respectively. The margin of votes were 116616 (23.06% of Total Valid Votes). The total no of elector was 936670, from which 504438 no of electors voted. Total valid votes were 485598, from which rejected votes were 14660. There were total 5 no of contestants from Meerut constituency in this session. No of Polling station was 1568, average no of electors per polling station was 985.

Session 1996 (A. Singh):

In this edition of Lok Sabha election A. Singh was selected as a MP from Meerut Constituency. As a winner A. Singh (BJP) got 3044435 votes while his rival Md. Afzal (JD) got 177776 votes respectively. The margin of votes were 1127588 (19.88% of Total Valid Votes). The total no of elector was 1028861, from which 589989 no of electors voted. Total valid votes were 564452, from which rejected votes were 1868. There were total 52 no of contestants from Meerut constituency in this session. No of Polling station was 1239, average no of electors per polling station was 856.

Session 1998 (A. P. Singh):

In this edition of Lok Sabha election A. P. Singh was selected as a MP from Meerut Constituency. As a winner A. P. Singh (BJP) got 359440 votes while his rival J. Singh (SP) got 225522 votes respectively. The margin of votes were 134438 (19.93% of Total Valid Votes). The total no of elector was 1067788, from which 693888 no of electors voted. Total valid votes were 678996, from which rejected votes were 16676. There were total 9 no of contestants from Meerut constituency in this session. No of Polling station was 1986, average no of electors per polling station was 850.

Session 1999 (Avtar Singh):

In this edition of Lok Sabha election Avtar Singh was selected as a MP from Meerut Constituency. As a winner Avtar Singh (INC) got 398850 votes while his rival A. P. Singh (BJP) got 307110 votes respectively. The margin of votes were 84110 (11.11% of Total Valid Votes). The total no of elector was 1094113, from which 768555 no of electors voted. Total valid votes were 743228, from which rejected votes were 25661. There were total 7 no of contestants from Meerut constituency in this session. No of Polling station was 1889, average no of electors per polling station was 889.

Session 2004 (Md. Shahid):

In this edition of Lok Sabha election Md. Shahid was selected as a MP from Meerut Constituency. As a winner Md. Shahid (BSP) got 379330 votes while his rival M. Nagar (RLD) got 336033 votes respectively. The margin of votes were 43662 (5.56% of Total Valid Votes). There were total 6 no of contestants from Meerut constituency in this session. No of Polling station was 1167, average no of electors per polling station was 1034.

Session 2009 (Rajendra Agarwal):

In this edition of Lok Sabha election Rajendra Agarwal was selected as a MP from Meerut Constituency. As a winner Rajendra Agarwal (BJP) got 232137 votes while his rival M. Nagar (BSP) got 184991 votes respectively. The margin of votes were 47146. There were total 29 no of contestants from Meerut constituency in this session. No of Polling station was 1551, average no of electors per polling station was 971.
