PM Modi gives tech push; says Digital India will fulfill dreams of crores of Indians

New Delhi(ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday expressed confidence that the Digital India programme will help fulfill the dreams of crores of Indians.

“I am confident that Digital India will help fulfill the dreams of crores of Indians,” Prime Minister Modi said at the launch of the Digital India week.

“The time has changed. Back in the day when we visited someone the kid in the house used to play with your glasses or pen. Now the kids go for your phone. That’s how much technology-oriented the world has become. And we need to go with the time,” he added.

The Prime Minister also congratulated Union Telecom minister Ravi Shankar Prasad and his team, saying they had used a “comprehensive integrated approach to change India’s future”.

Prime Minister Modi further pointed out that the country’s demographic dividend must get digital strength.

“Our demographic dividend must get digital strength. We need to minimise digital divide for real development,” said the Prime Minister.

“In the past, people lived beside rivers, then came highways, now they set up homes where optical fiber cables pass through,” he added.

Digital India aims to transform the country into a digitally empowered knowledge economy.
