Micromax launches Canvas Tabby for parents and kids

Micromax Informatics Ltd, announced its entry into the kids edutainment segment with the launch of launch of Canvas Tabby last week, its first tablet with a special kids-use mode. Launched with an aim to using technology to make learning fun for today’s young generation, the tablet comes with a dual use mode for both parents and kids, making it the perfect family smart device.

The Canvas Tabby uses great technology and well-designed pre-loaded content to ensure a holistic rich learning experience on the tablet, and is aimed at fostering the natural curiosity of kids to discover more about the world around them. In the parent-use mode, the Canvas Tabby can be used as a fully-functional, high performance Android tablet to watch movies, check email and web surfing. With just a touch, the Tabby transforms into the perfect technology tool to help kids touch and learn, explore, and grow, through great content backed by parental control – all while having fun! The Tabby encourages parents to help their kids explore their potential by giving them access to best-in-class content under three areas – education, creativity and entertainment -at a highly affordable consumer price of Rs 6499.

The Tabby Kid’s use mode is powered by EddyPaddy, developed by kids-content company Educren, and is a kid-safe zone with over a 100 originally designed, pre-loaded applications and access to over 500 carefully curated videos under 3 areas – Education, Creativity and Entertainment.

The Canvas Tabby comes with tremendous parental control features – all designed to help kids sharpen their skills and develop their potential with parents’ guidance and observation. Depending on the kid’s age, parents can configure his or her profile to access the most age-appropriate content – upto three distinct children’s profiles can be created on the Tabby. Not only can parents set time limits for their children to use Tabby, they can decide which subjects their children should focus on by promoting specific content, and add and block content as per their own judgment. In addition, they get detailed reports on what their child is actually doing on the tablet, and can even configure and change settings on the device remotely.

Running on Android KitKat 4.4, the Tabby is a powerful tablet with 1.3Ghz processor; 1GB RAM and 8GB internal storage. The tablet sports a 7.0-inch display for the best learning and fun experience for kids. Clicking your kid’s special moments will be a lot more fun now with the 2MP rear camera of the new Tabby and VGA front camera. The device will be available from June 22 exclusively on Flipkart for Rs 6,499 for a period of 3 weeks and will subsequently be available for sale in all online and retail channels.
