Google launches prepaid cards for their India Play Store

It is now that much easier to gift your cousin that Android game she’s always wanted to buy–Google today has announced Google Play prepaid vouchers that can be used to purchase any kind of digital content on the Play Store.

These prepaid cards–much like that you’re used to seeing at your local corner store for cellular refills–will be available over the next few weeks at select retail outlets from Vijay Sales and Spice Hotspot in Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Pune, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Kolkata and Jaipur. These prepaid cards can be bought over the counter at these outlets using regular payment options including cash or card.

The cards will contain codes that can be redeemed in the Play Store, and will be available in denominations of Rs 500, Rs 1,000 and Rs 1,500. They can be used to purchase any kind of digital content on the play store including apps, games, e-books and for buying/renting movies for your Android device. You can even use these redemption codes for in-app purchases.
