Why Priyanka Chopra accepted Zoya Akhtar’s ‘Dil Dhadakne Do’

Priyanka Chopra is busy juggling between her films, her endorsements and her international project- Quantico. The actress who will be seen in two different roles this year, one of an urban rich girl in Dil Dhadakne Do and the other of a warrior’s first wife in Bajirao Mastani.

Choosy and picky, PeeCee has always opted for projects which tug her heart and in a candid chat with us before her film release, Piggy Chops tells us why she accepted the role of Ayesha Mehra..

The story!

I love the story, it’s an amazing story to tell. For me, the first thing I look for in a film is the story and my role in it. And I loved my character in the film.

Girly, after ages!

More than being urban, I think, for me, Dil Dhadakne Do was about being like a girl. I was doing films like Don, Mary Kom, Gunday and again I am doing Quantico, Gangaajal and what not. So it’s really nice to be dressed in dresses finally. So I am like wearing make up, having curls and having high heels. (Laughs) I loved that more than anything.

The ensemble cast!

It’s so much fun to work with an ensemble cast. Honestly, DDD has been one of my best experiences so far. When you have a cast like this, which has Anil Kapoor, Ranveer Singh, Farhan Akhtar, Shefali Shah, Anushka Sharma, Rahul Bose and also stalwarts like Zarina Wahab and others, you can never say a ‘No’ to such a film. There are 26 characters in the film and each one is equally important.

Zoya Factor!

Zoya is one of those directors I always wanted to work with. And DDD was possibly the best option to do that. I feel Zoya has a voice and has something to say with her films, which is why I get glued to her stories.
