New Delhi, Deeptiman Tiwary,(TNN): Days after Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh reposed his faith in the patriotism of Indian Muslims and brushed aside the threat of ISIS pull on Indian youth as “negligible”, Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju applauded parents who have prevented their sons from joining the outfit.
Addressing an international conference on counter-terrorism organised by India Foundation, Rijiju said, “The war of terrorism has to be fought by the society.” Giving the example of how terror groups like ISIS were trying hard to capture the young minds, he said, “The parents and the Indian society have been able to prevent young people from joining such groups.”
The minister said that terrorism should be treated as a challenge to human kind and the global community will have to come together to counter terrorism. Speaking at the Valediction session of the three day conference said that terrorism is now not the problem of any one country, instead it has spread to different parts of the world.
Expressing concern on the present security scenario, Rijiju said that the challenges of countering terrorism are increasing day by day and “we have to be ready always to control the situation. For this, the police forces and other stakeholders need to be trained to counter terrorism.”
On the deliberations of the conference, Rijiju said that it would benefit the functioning of the ministry in counter terrorism. He said that the country needed a professionally managed counter terrorism school. He invited the think tanks and the other stakeholders to collaborate to counter terrorism.
