HYDERABAD(PRIMEPOST): Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu has lost his cool in the Assembly on Tuesday and shouted at the opposition. He warned the Opposition party leaders in the Assembly that they could not disturb the functioning of the House for their vested interests. It happened during the debate on interlinking of rivers in the State, including Polavaram and Pattiseema lift irrigation projects.
Though the debate on the issue was taken up on Monday, noisy scenes continued for second day under protests and adjournments. Chandrababu Naidu warned YSRCP chief YS Jaganmohan Reddy saying “You can’t disturb the functioning of the House. We don’t allow you to project your agenda in the House. Jagan is provocating his MLAs to stall the House by standing around podium. I don’t allow you to show your “goondagiri” here, it is not the platform for that. You are creating ugly scenes here. Jagan is creating room for upper riparian States to object to the project. He is supporting Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao’s objections. Jagan is creating hurdles in the proposed Pattiseema lift irrigation project with vested interests”.
Chandrababu Naidu also hit “Sakshi” daily owned by Jagan, for publishing a news item projecting him (Chandrababu) as working against the Polavaram project. Naidu demanded that Jagan tender apology to the House before speaking on the subject. He also alleged that “Sakshi” published distorted facts. He criticized Jagan for “creating hurdles to the Pattiseema project”.
Before Naidu hit back at the Oposition, Jaganmohan Reddy argued that the proposed Pattiseema lift irrigation project may damage chances of construction of Indira Sagar Polavaram Project, which is crucial for the entire State. He said no party in the State was supporting Pattiseema lift irrigation project. Jagan said there was not even a single word about the Rayalaseema region in the government’s order regarding the Pattiseema project.
Minister for Labor Kinjarapu Atchan Naidu condemned the Leader of the Opposition for not answering to the objections raised by the Chief Minister about the tampered news published in Sakshi. He termed Jagan as timid person and trying to escape from answering on it.
Minister for Major Irrigation Devineni Umamaheswara Rao said the “Sakshi” daily published news in such a way that it would harm the State’s interests in Polavaram project. Minister for Social Welfare Ravela Kishore Babu dubbed Jagan as a dacoit, smuggler and corrupt person, who had no credibility. “Jagan is against the development of the State”, Ravela mentioned.
When YSRCP MLAs encircled the podium and shouted slogans against the government, Naidu regretted that this was undemocratic and not acceptable. (NSS)
