Thiruvananthapuram:- State sales tax department started steps to bring ecommerce under tax web. As part of this, they fined major companies including Flipkart, Jabong, Koovs, Vector ecommerce and Robmall Apparells.
The fine amount is as follows,
Flipkart – 47.15 Crores
Jabong – 3.89 Lakhs
Vector ecommerce – 2.23 Crores
Robmall Apparells – 36 Lakhs
It is the first try in Kerala to fine the online trades.
Sales tax department conveyed that above companies didn’t pay any bucks as tax yet. Other online companies which are active in Kerala are also under observation.
Now Cash on Delivery items are only subjected to pay tax. Online payment is not supposed to it. But they said soon all ecommercebuyings will be fined.
It is not only Kerala which took action against ecommerce sites. But Tamilnadu, Karnataka, Assam, Maharashtra, Missoram and Punjab are also in the same boat. Central Government also thinking of the same.
