Mandsaur: Education Minister of Madhya Pradesh ‘Umashankar Gupta’ sparked controversy on Sunday by saying that girls will be available in black in the near future.
“If people will not stop female foeticide, girls will be sold in black in near future” he said.
Later, he clarified his words and stated that he did not use word Black in terms of purchase or sale of girls, instead he want people to understand that female foeticide will increase the problem of gender imbalance, which will lead to increase in crime against women.
Umashankar gave this statement while speaking at an academic function here.
He further denounced the practice of female foeticide prevailing in the country and sated that the society is required to stop the menace in order to address the problem of gender imbalance.
Umashankar Gupta is the Higher Education minister in Bharatiya Janata Party ministry of Madhya Pradesh in India.
He also stated that BJP has always been concerned for the safety and security of daughters.
