Thiruvananthapuram, 11 March, Sreeparvathy K.: Former Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dixit was sworn in as the Kerala Governor in a ceremony held at Raj Bhavan in Thiruvananthapuram in front of Kerala High Court Chief Justice Manjula Chellur. Cheif Minister Oommen Chandy, State and Union Ministers, and Government officials were present at the function.
Sheila Dixit was cordially welcomed by giving Guard of Honour at the Thiruvananthapuram Air Force Technical Area on Monday. She was welcomed by dignitaries including Chief Minister Oommmen Chandy, Speaker G Karthikeyan, Deputy Speaker N Shakthan, Chief Secretary E K Bharat Bhushan, District Collector Biju Prabhakar, DGP KS Balasubrahmaniyam, PSC Chairman Dr. KS Radhakrishnan and Women’s Commission Chairperson KC Rosakkutty.
Sheila Dixit was appointed as Kerala Governor after the resignation of former Governor Nikhil Kumar to contest the LokSabha election from Aurangabad in Bihar. Dixit who has been the Delhi Chief Minister from 1998 to 2013 was beaten in the Assembly election by Arvind Kejriwal. On her new position, she is reported to have said that she will carry out the new duty with all responsibility.
