Man allegedly behind Islamic state supporting Twitter account @ShamiWitness held: reports

Bangalore: Bengaluru executive Mehdi Masroor Biswas, the man allegedly behind believed to be behind the pro-Islamic State twitter @ShamiWitness, has been caught by the police, say reports.

In a second interview released by UK’s Channel 4 Mehdi had said that he believes he will be killed in an encounter.

“I have a suspicion that the police will come to arrest me. They may try to kill me and then they will say that I attacked them and they killed me in an encounter (sic),” he had said.

Mehdi also believed that he would be arrested sooner or later as there was ‘a manhunt going on right now and they won’t take more than 24 hours’ He also said that he will not resist arrest if the police come knocking at his doors and is ready to surrender. “And I do not have any sort of weapons with me,” he said in the interview.

He however believed that he has not done any wrong though he felt that he might be charged against waging a war against India and its allies. “No. I haven’t done anything wrong. I’ve not harmed anybody, I haven’t broken any laws of the country, haven’t waged any war against the Republic of India…also I’ve not waged any war against any allies of India. But they might bring that charge (sic).”

He was also surprised about the attention he has been receiving from the media coverage”…I thought it will die down in the first one or two hours, but it is still raging. I can’t believe this,” he said.

The account @ShamiWitness has been shut down by Twitter.
