CHANDIGARH(PTI): Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal on Thursday said the proposed IIM at Amritsar will give further impetus to the education system in Punjab, claiming that the Centre would soon allocate more such big ticket projects for the state.
Badal, on the sidelines of an event here, told reporters that in less than six months of its tenure the NDA government has allocated a prestigious project like IIM to Punjab, which would give further impetus to the education system in the state. He said that many more such projects were in pipeline that would put the state in the orbit of high growth trajectory.
Badal said the state government was already searching suitable land for the construction of IIM in Amritsar so that the work on it could be started soon. Reiterating the commitment of the state government to ensure the overall development of Punjab, the Chief Minister said they were duty-bound to take every issue concerned with the state and its people with the Union government.
Badal said he had already met Prime Minister Narendra Modi for safeguarding the interests of the state and this practice would be continued in the future also. “We will meet the PM whenever required so that as to give boost to the overall development of the state,” he added.
