This sentiment and full moral support to the Bhatt family is expressed by the president of All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) Maulana Badruddin Ajmal, Lok Sabha MP from Dhubri and his brother Sirajuddin Ajmal, another MP from Barpeta, Assam through a press statement here in Mumbai.

It is unfortunate that Mr. Bhatt with stellar qualities of secularism and humanism is for the third time on the target of hoods, according to media reports with reference to joint commissioner of police (crime) Sadanand Date. ‘We see in this a diabolical plan to eliminate genuine secularists on flimsy and petty grounds, for Mr. Bhatt has always stood for human rights and decency in inter-community relations,’ said the Ajmal brothers.

They further said, “We eagerly extend all supports to Mr. Bhatt for his activism for human rights and secularism and call upon the authorities to ensure that those whose views are opposed to certain sections of society have a right to freedom of speech and action and the police and government must ensure that proper protection is provided to such secularists and their family members so that they do not fall a prey to the bully of anti-social goons, on the instigation of those who harbor a secret agenda to disturb the peace and communal harmony of this nation”.
