New Delhi, 25 Oct 2014: About a year after it surprised the country, and also Delhi, by winning a little less than half of the Delhi assembly seats, Aam Aadmi Party will be put to test on 25th November when by-poll for three seats will be held here. The Election Commission of India today issued notification for the polls. The five-phased full elections for assemblies of Jammu and Kashmir and Jharkhand will also start from the day.
In Delhi, the by-poll will be held for Mehrauli, Tuglakabad and Krishna Nagar assembly constituencies.
The votes for the three seats of Delhi will be counted along with J&K and Jharkhand on 23rd Dec.
The recent victory of the ruling BJP in neighboring Haryana and far away Maharashtra will make the challenge tougher for AAP which had won 28 of 70 seats in Delhi. Arvind Kejriwal formed the government with the outside support of Congress and anti-corruption activist Arvind Kejriwal became chief minister. But he quit office over Lok Pal issue on 50th day of his government and Delhi Assembly has since been under suspended animation.
