NCP won’t treat Congress as enemy No.1: NCP MP Supriya Sule

Mumbai(PTI): Even as the NCP and Congress have snapped ties in the run up to the October 15 Maharashtra polls, NCP MP Supriya Sule on Friday said that her party would not target its former principal ally during the poll campaign.

NCP won’t treat Congress as enemy No.1: NCP MP Supriya Sule

“Though Congress and NCP have parted ways after 15 years of alliance in Maharashtra, NCP will not treat Congress as its enemy number one,” Sule told reporters here.

“All the four major political parties, be it Congress, BJP or Shiv Sena are just political opponents and elections are fought by all in the same spirit,” she added.

Supriya dismissed the charge that NCP chief Sharad Pawar was responsible for the split in Congress-NCP as well as Shiv Sena-BJP.

Opposing the demand for separate Vidarbha, she said, “We should take into consideration the conditions at the time of formation of Maharashtra and also remember the martyrdom of so many people for the cause.”

Earlier in the day, Sharad Pawar had also said that NCP always stood for undivided Maharashtra.

Replying to a query on how many seats the NCP could win in the upcoming elections, Sule said the party was not into any number game. “We are here to win all the seats that we contest,” she said.
