Odisha, January 30, Abhijit Saha: The vote-on-account Budget for the financial year 2014-15 is approved in a meeting by the Odisha State Council of Ministers headed by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday. This budget will be presented by Finance Minister Prasanna Acharya in the Odisha Assembly on 7th February.
The Assembly session will start on 3rd February and will continue till 13th February. While the total amount of the Annual budget is estimated at an amount of Rs. 75,000 Crore, the Vote-on-account will be around Rs. 20,000 Crore as the forthcoming general elections are nearby. The full annual budget will be presented by the new Government only after the constitution of the new Assembly for the financial year 2014-15.
After the council of Ministers meeting is over, the finance minister refused to disclose the details of the meeting. Mr. Acharya said that due attention has been given to all the related departments while finalizing the vote-on-account Budget. It is also known from sources that provisions have been made for the first four months of the next fiscal year April to July because of the forthcoming general elections.
While the interim budget was the main agenda, Lokayukta Bill will also be introduced in the short session of the Assembly, informed by the sources. Earlier also the State Government had arranged for vote-on-account budget in 2009 and 2010 instead of a regular budget.
The Allocations in the interim Budget will include expenditure for salary, pension, interest payment on borrowings, provision for the on-going schemes and some other new schemes as informed by official sources.
