VARANASI, 22 July-2014, Binay Singh/TNN: The passengers of 12305 Kolkata-New Delhi Rajdhani Express detained the train for nearly one hour at Mughalsarai railway station on Sunday night for serving food contaminated with cockroaches. The senior railway authorities have sought a detailed report in this regard. The general manager of East Central Railway has sought a report to take appropriate action, ECR spokesperson Arvind Kumar Rajak told TOI over phone from Hajipur.
When the train stopped at platform number 3 on Mughalsarai railway station around 12.57 am on Sunday night, passengers staged demonstration raising anti-railway slogans as cockroaches were found in the food they were served. The train was delayed for an hour at to agitation. The train moved further after assurance given by the railway officials at Mughalsarai.
The food was served when the train left Patna. Some passengers travelling in B-7 coach found cockroaches in the food. The people at pantry car did not pay heed to the complaint. They alleged that the train superintendent did not take notice of the matter. The agitated passengers were pacified after the intervention of deputy station superintendent.
The train could leave the station only after the railway officials received the complaint and assured action. The passengers were returning after worshipping Lord Shiva at Deoghar.
Such state of affairs prevails in premium trains like Rajdhani Express at a time when Prime Minister Narendra Modi is dreaming of bullet trains in the country. Incidents like these expose the real functioning of Indian Railway.
