New Delhi, 16 July-2014, India Today: After brickbats from Congress leaders and media, veteran journalist Ved Pratap Vaidik now faces police action for his meeting with alleged 26/11 mastermind Hafiz Saeed in Pakistan.
The 70-year-old has been booked for sedition in Uttar Pradesh as well as in Madhya Pradesh.
The first case was filed by Congress member Vivek Khandelwal in an Indore court.
Vaidik has been booked under Sections 124A and 132.
The second case was filed in Varanasi and will be heard on July 25.
The Congress had demanded Vaidik’s arrest for the meeting while the Shiv Sena wanted him booked for sedition.
Vaidik met the Jamat-ud-Dawah chief at his home in Lahore on July 2 while on a tour of Pakistan along with a group of journalists and politicians invited to the neighbouring country by a research institute.
