8 July-2014, NDTV: Protests in Parliament over the new Railway Budget turned ugly with members of the Trinamool Congress accusing the ruling BJP’s lawmakers of harassing them.
Trinamool Congress leader Kalyan Banerjee was seen running out of Parliament along with other members of his party, shouting that they had been threatened by BJP members.
“They are abusing us. Hum ko maarne ke liye aaya (They threatened to hit us),” Mr Banerjee told reporters, shouting hysterically.
Another Trinamool MP Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar said, “We were peacefully protesting inside the Lok Sabha, one drunk BJP MP along with others came and threatened and abused us.”
The Trinamool is headed by West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. Her lawmakers were shouting slogans against Prime Minister Narendra Modi as they accused his government of ignoring Bengal’s needs in the Railways Budget.
A senior BJP lawmaker, Kalraj Mishra, intervened, blocking a raucous member from his party from taking on the Trinamool members.
