CM Patnaik in his letter to PM said that, “Government of India has indicated a figure of Rs.1010 crore as tentative allocation of funds under PMGSY for the State of Odisha of which RS300 crore only has been released to the State so far during the current financial year 2014-15. During 2013-14 Rs.l615 crore was spent in Odisha under PMGSY.” Patnaik further added that, “The Ministry of Rural Development has sanctioned an amount of Rs.l7814.25 crore since inception of the scheme. We have ongoing works of around Rs.3200 crore and another Rs.1500 crore of works are in the tender process. Therefore, the allocation of Rs.1010 crore made during this current financial year 201415 will not be sufficient and needs to be enhanced to at least Rs.200() crore. We have already spent RS300 crore released this year.” CM Patnaik requested Prime Minister Narendra Modi to consider allocation of Rs.2000 crore for FY 2014-15 and release the balance funds at the earliest for smooth implementation of PMGSY Programme in the State of Odisha.
