Imphal, 1 July-2014(Impacttv): Reports on attacks against Northeast people in Delhi is common, but what is uncommon is that there are also brave people who are fighting against such attacks.
In a rare incident, a Manipuri woman not only fought her attackers but also handed them over to police. Laimayum Khulna was returning from Kailash Hospital Karkardooma on her two-wheeler when a man sitting on backside of a bike snatched her gold chain. Responding quickly, Laimayum Khulna chased the bikers on her two-wheeler over a kilometre. After a point she intercepted them and shouted for help even though the attackers threatened to kill her.
She nabbed the attackers with the help of locals and handed them over to police. Delhi Police have registered an FIR against the chain snatchers Rashid and Akram. Laimayum Khulna lives in Delhi and she is a resident of Nagamapal Laimayum Leirak. Presently she is working in Delhi as a choreographer and is president of Manipur Young Mind Association (MYMAD). Hope this incident will surely boost up the confidence of every women in the country.
