Thiruvananthapuram, 5 March, Sreeparvathy K.: Kerala Governor Nikhil Kumar resigned from the post for contesting in the Lok Sabha elections. He will contest the elections from Aurangabad in Bihar as Congress candidate.
He was the Aurangabad MP in the first UPA Government. Nikhil Kumar told the media persons at Nedumbasserry airport that he had faxed his resignation letter to the President. Nikhil Kumar became the Governor of Kerala in 2013 March.
Nikhil Kumar will be succeeded by former Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dixit and will be sworn as Governor next week. For Sheila Dixit, this may be the end of political exile after the defeat in the Delhi assembly election. Dixit was the Delhi Chief Minister from 1998 to 2013.
