New Delhi/Patna, 25 June-2014, Ajith Vijay Kumar(Indilens Web Team): Nine bogies of New Delhi-Dibrugarh Rajdhani Express (12236) derailed near Chapra in Bihar early Thursday. Four passengers are feared dead while four others are said to be injured.
Of the nine bogies that derailed, seven are passenger coaches, the other two being the pantry car and the generator coach.
The accident occurred at around 2:05 am between Chapra and Goldiganj stations, minutes after the train left Chapra station.
Railway Board chief Arunendra Kumar said prima facie the cause for derailment seems to be sabotage by the Maoists. The ultras had called for a bandh and blockade in the area today.
Railway medical teams have reached the spot even as the injured are bineg rushed to nearby hospitals.
The railways has announced an exgratia compensation of Rs two lakh to the kin of those dead. The seriously injured passengers will get Rs one lakh each while those with minor injuries will receive Rs 20000 each.
