Bhubaneswar, 11 June-2014: Dr Pramod Kumar Mishra, a retired Odia IAS officer of the Gujarat cadre (1972 batch), has been appointed as an Additional Principal Secretary to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
According to an official release issued by the Ministry of Personnel on Tuesday, the appointment of 65-year-old Mishra will be co-terminus with the term of the Prime Minister or till further orders. Dr Mishra, who was born in Patnaikpada of Sambalpur town, had his schooling in the Sambalpur District School and graduation from the GM College.
Dr. Mishra had served between 2001 and 2004 as the Principal Secretary to Modi when he was the Gujarat Chief Minister. He was Secretary in the Union Ministry of Agriculture between December 1, 2006 and August 31, 2008.He was appointed as Chairman of the Gujarat Electricity Regulatory Commission (GERC) after his retirement in 2008 for a five-year term.Mishra, considered close to Modi, had also held the post of Director General of the Gujarat Institute of Disaster Management.
