Sindri, 30 May-2014, TNN: The four villagers of Rajabasti who were threatened by their neighbours for voting in the Lok Sabha election, will get “full security cover”, said Dhanbad SP Hemant Toppo. Talking to the media in Sindri on Thursday, Toppo said Subir Dan and his wife had met him after which he has directed the local police to deploy security force and a magistrate in the village and arrest villagers intimidating them.
Villagers of Rajabasti, who boycotted the Lok Sabha election to press for their demand for delisting their village included in the Dhanbad Municipal Corporation, are threatening the couple and two others for voting. The four villagers had said they were unaware of any boycott. A kangaroo court on May 25 imposed fine of Rs 5,000 each on them and threatened to ostracize them if they failed to pay up. Dan and his wife then lodged a complaint. But the threats did not stop, and on Wednesday night, some miscreants threw stones at his house. However, Baliapur police did not lodge a criminal case against the villagers who are intimidating Dan and others.
