Sindri, 29 May-2014, TNN: Former Jharkhand minister and JVM (P) leader Samresh Singh was remanded in judicial custody for 24 hours on Wednesday as his bail petition in property defacement case was put on hold in the court of first class judicial magistrate of Dhanbad.
According to reports, former Dhanbad BDO Salim Ansari had filed a case under Property Defacement Act against Samresh Singh on August, 1999 with Dhanbad PS (case no. 494/99) when he found a political slogan written in favour of Samresh Singh on the walls of Dhanbad circuit house. The then Dhanbad SDM U P Singh also filed another case (Dhanbad PS case no, 523/99) against Singh that same year for code of conduct violation. As Singh failed in appearing before the court on numerous dates in last 15 years, the court of first class judicial magistrate Kumar Pawan declared him an absconder in both the cases and issued a non-bailable warrant against him.
Singh’s counsel S N Mukherjee filed a revision petition before the sessions court of Dhanbad against the lower court’s decision. Although, the sessions judge set aside the lower court’s decision he directed Singh to seek bail from the lower court.
