28 May-2014, Alex Rees: Miley Cyrus won two World Music Awards last night at a ceremony in Monte Carlo, Monaco, collecting trophies for Best Female Act and Best Pop Video (“Wrecking Ball”). She wore a sparkly silver gown, thus looking more like a disco ball than a wrecking one. It’s a great look, though; also the guy standing behind Miley as she gives her acceptance speech has some fabulous floral pants on.
Miley also performed during the awards in a floor-length, floral-patterned gown that looks to be inspired by Claude Monet’s famous Water Lilies paintings. The set for that performance included lots of kitsch ’70s lounge furniture for some reason, but again, Miley looks super-elegant:
It’s the first time she’s made it through a show without a leotard in a little while, and that’s a pleasant surprise. In other fun (but perhaps less surprising) moments from the night, Mariah Carey showed up FOUR HOURS late; organizers later explained that they didn’t know why she was delayed but that “she’s just being Mariah.”
And Pamela Anderson wore a terrible wig.
