Odisha, Feb 28, Abhijit Saha: Axis Bank and Airtel M Commerce Services Ltd. (AMSL) has partnered with each other to process the disbursements of wages to MGNREGA workers via Airtel money.
Airtel retailers widely present across the state will function as Customer Service Points [CSP] and ensure seamless workout of the process.
To implement the service of mobile based disbursement of wages to MGNRGEA job card holders in Odisha, the Axis Bank, Government of Odisha and Department of Panchayati Raj had signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Airtel M Commerce Services Ltd (AMSL) on 22nd February.
This project will be started on pilot basis in 2 blocks namely Saintala in Bolangir and Ghatgaon in Keonjhar district of the state by Axis bank.
The MGNREGA job card holders will be able to get their daily wage payment directly through their mobile provided they shall have to subscribe to the services by airtel money to link their mobile number to their Axis Bank account. The workers will directly receive the amount on their mobile based on the remittance made by the department to the beneficiary’s a/c on the due date.
These customers will be able to easily withdraw cash from any nearby Airtel retail outlet by simply authorizing the transaction on their mobile and will also receive alerts via SMS and voice message. Customers will receive an SMS with a secured PIN for every transaction which they need to convey to the retailer for completing the transaction and handing over the cash.
Customer will not loose on bank interest for the funds parked in the said A/C and can easily perform withdrawal and deposit with their mobile.
