Bhubaneswar, 25 May-2014: Odisha chief minister Naveen Patnaik will skip prime minister-designate Narendra Modi’s swearing in ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhawan on Monday.
Instead, Finance minister Pradip Kumar Amat will represent him in the event, relaible sources told OST.
No reasons have been given for the chief minister’s decision to skip the all-important event that would formally herald the beginning of a new NDA government at the Centre.
Interestingly, both West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee and the Tamilnadu chief minister J. Jayalalithaa have decided to stay away from the swearing-in ceremony.
Observers say, the fact that the three chief ministers have taken the same decision, points to a coming-together of the three regional parties as an independent bloc in the Lok Sabha.
Sources said, Naveen Patnaik has given a go-ahead to his party MPs to attend the function.
