Bhubaneswar, 13 May-2014, Abhijit Saha: The Health Department of Odisha has decided to increase the number of beds in various wards of SCB Medical College and Hospital and Sishu Bhawan. The department has announced 120 beds for the SCB Medical College and Hospital and 200 beds for Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Post Graduate Institute of Paediatrics (Sishu Bhawan).
As per the intended expansion, 12 beds would be added in the Casualty ward, 30 beds in Surgery, 16 beds in Cardiology, 20 beds in Plastic Surgery and 24 beds in Anaesthesia wards amongst others will be added in SCB Medical College and Hospital. The government has also decided to add 50 bedsin the ICU Ward.
Likewise, Sishu Bhawan will also get 200 additional beds. Presently it holds a capacity of 450 beds. According to intended expansion, 24 beds would be added in the ICU ward for newborn babies as per the government decision of which 12 beds would be added within a week’s time and the other 12 beds would added within three months.
Besides, the number of seats in the Post Graduate courses will also be increased and development of infrastructure will also be undertaken for student hostels and staff quarters for the doctors within the hospital site.
